Board of Directors Biographies

Terry Scussel (President) is the parent of Chrissy, a Marin Ventures client. He and his wife, Denise, have been devoted advocates for Chrissy, ensuring that she receives the resources necessary to allow her to thrive. Terry is active in Marin County’s non-profit service sector, serving on various boards supporting older adults and people with disabilities. He served as Vice President of Board of Directors for Whistlestop-Senior Coordinating Council, and is Vice Chair of the Governing Board for Marin County’s In-Home Supportive Services/Public Authority. Terry is a Community Preparedness Instructor for the American Red Cross – Bay Area Chapter.Terry is a graduate of the University of South Florida. He has held a variety of executive positions for Xerox Corporation, Pitney Bowes, IKON Office Solutions and Recall-Total Document Management over his 35 year business outsourcing career. Terry also served as the General Manager for Whistlestop-Senior Coordinating Council.

While Terry’s service work is grounded in the special needs of his daughter, he is a firm believer that professionals and business people should give back time and expertise to the community non-profit organizations.Terry and his family reside in Mill Valley. He is an avid photographer in his spare time.

Ginny Quick (Treasurer) is the parent of a Marin Ventures client, as well as three other sons, and two young granddaughters. Ginny brings non-profit finance expertise to the Board and serves as chairman of the Board’s Finance Committee.Ginny served as Chief Financial and Operations Officer at The Marine Mammal Center for nearly thirteen years, and currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer at The Sierra Club Foundation. In addition to Marin Ventures, Ginny volunteers at Lifehouse.

Chrissy DeVoto was born and raised in San Francisco. She received her BA from Santa Clara University and after raising a family, returned to school and earned a Mild/Moderate Credential in Special Education at the University of San Francisco. Chrissy is active in various non-profit organizations serving the disabled. For the last 16 years, she has been teaching in Marin County. Chrissy and her husband, Terry, have 4 children, two of whom are Marin Ventures’ clients. Chrissy serves on both the Development and Events Committees. Her unique background as both a special needs parent and an educator serves her well as a Marin Ventures Board member.

Martin Weil is a long-time advocate for the disabled and most recently served as Chair of the Area 4 Board, an oversight and advocacy arm of the California State Council on Developmental Disabilities. He and his wife Deirdre live in Sonoma. They are the parents of Flannery, a Marin Ventures and Lifehouse client, and her older brother, Cole, who lives in Chicago. Prior to launching his financial planning/investment management business in 1997, Martin had a lengthy career in executive management for the non-profit performing arts field. During 1991-1996, he was employed through the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce as a technical assistance provider and consultant to local non-profit cultural organizations. Martin is a graduate of UCLA and earned an MBA from their Anderson School of Management.

Ed Zander grew up in Marin and graduated from San Francisco State in 1997, with a bachelor’s in liberal studies. After graduating, Ed worked as a Program Coordinator at Marin Ventures. He then earned a teaching credential at Dominican College. Ed earned his master’s in educational leadership at Sonoma State. He taught elementary school for several years, and served as a high school principal, and a special education director in Lake County. He now works at Marin County Office of Education as a Program Manager. He manages the County Special Day Classes for middle school, high school, and post-secondary classes at the College of Marin. Ed is happy to be back in Marin County, where his 13-year-old daughter attends the same middle school he did.
