In his latest State Budget proposal, Governor Gavi In his latest State Budget proposal, Governor Gavin Newsom slashed more than $500 million in funding for services that support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. For two decades, the State of California has chronically underfunded the developmental disability system. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, a Rate Study conducted by the State identified a funding gap of over $1.4 billion for disability programs. The current public health crisis only made this problem worse, significantly increasing the cost of safely delivering services to those with developmental disabilities. The impact of the Governor’s proposed additional funding cuts would be catastrophic to the entire developmental disability community.
We are counting on all Senators and Assembly Members to reject any budget plan that would harm services to people with developmental disabilities, including the $500 million in proposed cuts by the Governor.
We need your help BEFORE JUNE 12 to #SaveDisabilityServices.

The Superfest International Disability Film Festival is the world's longest-running disability film event. Since its debut in 1970, this cutting-edge cinema experience has become an eagerly-anticipated annual celebration, portraying disability through a diverse, complex, unabashed, and engaging lens. An initiative of the Superfest Film Festival, the Superfest Showcase shares films from the annual festival with communities throughout the US and the world. The May 17 Superfest Showcases will feature eight short films directed by, produced, or starring people who identify as having I/DD. Each film will be captioned and audio described, and an ASL interpreter will be provided. Don't miss this unique opportunity! All ages. THE INSIDE FACE OF OUTSIDER ART: NEW PERSPECTIVES FROM THE NORTH BAY
APRIL 13 - MAY 27 2019

Every artist has a voice. This exhibit
features artwork from three North Bay studios who exclusively represent artists with intellectual and developmental
disabilities. These bold artistic voices express a
vision of the world in a variety of artistic mediums including — but not limited to — ceramic, canvas, paper, and fiber arts.
These works provide an arresting
examination of both pop & traditional cultural norms of the seen and unseen world we inhabit.

Featuring work from Marin Ventures' clients as well as works from Cedars and Alchemia. #art #marin #marinventures #disabilities #sanrafael #artistsofig #developmentaldisabilities #developmental_disabilities #disability #arts #peoplewithdisabilities #nonprofit #nonprofitorganization #ArtStudio #DDAwareness #Create #community #communityintegration #artistsoninstagram #artistsofinstagram #artteachersofinstagram #outsiderart #watercolor #Novato @petalumaartscenter @alchemiaartsll @alchemia_arts
